Occupational therapy intervention

For people with disabilities and the support teams around them, at home and in the community across Brisbane.

Ongoing occupational therapy focuses on the everyday things that matter to each person: routines, self-care, running a home, getting out into the community and feeling more in control day to day.

Sessions are practical and goal based, and happen where life happens, at home or in the community. We work with people with disabilities who want to build skills and independence, and with the support workers and families around them so strategies carry over between sessions.

Practical, goal based therapy, where life happens.

What we work on

  • Daily routines and structure, including visual routines and checklists

  • Self-care, cooking, cleaning and managing a home

  • Community access and participation

  • Coping and distress tolerance skills, drawing on DBT and ACT approaches

  • Sensory and cognitive assessments, and strategies to help a person feel regulated and function at their best

  • Coaching support workers and families so strategies carry over between sessions

How it works

  • An initial chat with you or your support coordinator about your goals and what is getting in the way

  • Goals agreed at the start and reviewed as we go

  • Written plans and resources between sessions for you and your support team

Places for ongoing therapy are limited and depend on location, so please get in touch to check availability. Ongoing occupational therapy is funded through NDIS Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living) for self-managed and plan-managed participants.
